Failte Ireland Welcome Standard Awarded to DCU Rooms

We are delighted to announce that DCU rooms are one of the seven universities in Ireland that have been awarded Failte Ireland’s Welcome Standard for our summer accommodation, DCU Rooms. While we are not surprised that our high-standard, affordable accommodation in Dublin has been recognized by the leading tourist body in Ireland, we are delighted to contribute to the Irish economy in this way.

What is the Failte Ireland Welcome Standard?

The Failte Ireland Welcome Standard is the minimum criteria and requirements expected of a tourism accommodation business wishing to work with Failte Ireland. The standards were designed to identify the essential aspects of the guest’s journey & experience and all accommodation businesses in Ireland are expected to meet these standards in order to receive this prestigious approval. It’s an important process which ensures that accommodation approved by Failte Ireland is of a high standard and meets minimum requirements so all visitors to Ireland have the same excellent level of service and quality.

What are the requirements?

The standards are categorized into different sections to ensure the entire guest journey is covered. The categories are: General Business Practice, Pre-Arrival, Arrival, During the Visit, Facilities and Exit/Departure.

General Business Practice

Procedures are in place to ensure that all of our staff have good knowledge of the facilities and services provided by DCU. If a guest should have a complaint throughout their stay, which thankfully is rare, we do have a complaints process to ensure both we and our guests are satisfied with the outcome. All government-appointed building regulations, planning regulations and fire safety regulations are all adhered to and updated as needed throughout our three sites.

Pre-Arrival

Our staff are well trained, have an excellent phone manner and are happy to provide details on payment types, facilities available and directions to reach us from anywhere in Dublin or beyond. Our website is regularly updated and well-maintained with special offers and new information.

Arrival

Our friendly staff are always ready to welcome all of our guests with a smile and a friendly hello. We love to help visitors and are always on hand with advice or recommendations if requested.

During the Visit

Our staff are available throughout the guests stay, not just at check-in, to provide a friendly service or to resolve any issues any of our valued guests may have at any stage during their stay. We can also provide details about the in-house facilities DCU have to offer such as our sports grounds, gym and multiple restaurants on-site.

Facilities

Unlike Dublin hotel accommodation, we have the space and flexibility to offer our guests a whole host of facilities above and beyond what you would expect from hotel accommodation in Dublin. Our grounds, buildings and equipment are maintained to the highest possible standard and we pride ourselves on our immaculate standards of cleanliness.

Exit/Departure

When your time in DCU rooms has come to an end, our reception staff will be there to help check the guest out, provide an itemized bill and offer a variety of payment options. Our check out procedure also ensures our guests are completely satisfied with their experience and they are welcomed to return on their next visit to Dublin.

DCU rooms operates across the three campuses, Glasnevin, St. Patrick’s Drumcondra and All Hallows, and has significantly contributed to the €160 million added to the Irish economy in Summer 2018. If you’re looking for affordable accommodation and want to avoid overpriced Dublin hotels, DCU is a fantastic alternative. Our Failte Ireland approved accommodation is now open for bookings. Contact our helpful staff will be happy to answer any questions or queries you may have.
